# Sawhorse > Sawhorse is a free connector for Claude and ChatGPT (a remote MCP server) for beginner and intermediate woodworkers. You describe the furniture you want; it asks your measurements and the tools you own, designs the piece from a real 3D model, and returns a cut list, a shopping list and an illustrated step-by-step build plan with a PDF. ## Connect Connector URL: https://sawhorse.diy (remote MCP server, Streamable HTTP, no sign-in). https://sawhorse.diy/mcp also works. - Claude (web, desktop, mobile): claude.ai → Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → name it "Sawhorse" and paste https://sawhorse.diy. Then start a chat: "Help me build a bench." - ChatGPT: chatgpt.com/plugins → + → Add custom MCP server → name it "Sawhorse", paste https://sawhorse.diy, choose no authentication, create. Needs a paid plan; Developer mode may need to be on first. - Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http sawhorse https://sawhorse.diy` - Cursor, VS Code or any other MCP client: add a remote (HTTP) MCP server with https://sawhorse.diy ## What it builds Benches, tables, planter boxes, shelves, sawhorses, and box-built pieces such as bookcases, cubbies, nightstands, toy chests, media consoles and mudroom benches. No drawers yet. ## Why the plans are accurate The AI only collects what you want (the piece, your space, your tools). It never writes a dimension. Every measurement, cut length and quantity is calculated from a CadQuery 3D model of the piece, and every design is checked for colliding parts, screws too long for the board, and shelves or seats that would sag. ## What you get - Dimensions computed from a 3D model, never guessed - Checks for colliding parts, screws that are too long, and sagging shelves or seats - A plan matched to the tools you own (circular saw, miter saw, drill, pocket-hole jig) - Cut list, sheet layout, shopping list with cost estimate, illustrated steps, PDF ## Example - Example plan (PDF): https://sawhorse.diy/assets/example-plan-laundry-bench.pdf — a 57" × 22¾" × 18" laundry-closet storage bench from one sheet of plywood and two 2×6s, about $196 in materials. ## Price Free while in beta.
